Who?

Jonas Bishop Hayes was born and raised in the DFW area of Texas. He was born into sports, but found theatre his sophomore year of high school. He knew he wasn't an actor, but he wanted to be a part of the process. He was thrown into sound which turned into doing sound and lights which turned into being the person who was in charge of lights all the time. While in the theatre program in high school he made friends with people who would push him to consume endless movies, which turned into a major passion.

Jonas Bishop Hayes graduated from Boston University and now resides in Brooklyn, New York. He has learned a lot about what it means to find meaning in spectacle. He loves bold saturated colors and highly stylized choices, but they must have purpose. This is one of the key signatures of his lighting design, and of all his art, truly.

Although he loves lights endlessly, he knows that film is his true calling. Jonas has found a love for making movies and taking photography. He is currently editing a dark comedy of manners entitled EUCALYPTUS. He is actively gaffing and key gripping feature films, short films, commercials and music videos. He has worked with directors such as Sean Price Williams, Oscar Boyson, Alex Ross Perry, Michel Franco and Owen Kline. He actively experiments with photography and has started shooting Super8 footage Jonas Mekas style of his day to day life.
